Westwind Oak were a pleasure to work with and delivered the oak frame and sips panels package on time and on budget. The attention to detail and ‘crafting’ of the timbers resulted in a spectacular open plan upstairs living area, taking full advantage of the exposed roof timbers and unique interrupted collar sling brace frames to the gables. We were able to visit the workshop to see the frames being made and the oak frame installation was particularly impressive, taking just one cold December day to erect from sole plate to ridge”

Oak Frame in Beaminster, West Dorset

‘We chose Westwind to construct our new-build oak frame home in West Dorset because they offered all that we required in terms of interpretation and craftmanship.

The Westwind team were diligent and responsive throughout the design process, despite constraints caused by the Covid lockdown. They quickly established an excellent rapport with our architect and engineer which ensured the frame was successfully erected in June 2021.

Our new home is nearing completion (4Q22) and we couldn’t be more pleased. The oak beams, trusses and time-honoured joinery of the frame are wonderful features which remain wholly visible inside the masonry envelope. We take great pleasure admiring the craftmanship on show.

We highly recommend Westwind for all that they’ve done, our grateful thanks to Rupert and the Westwind team for their outstanding contribution to our new home.

Oak Framed House in Surrey

I just wanted to thank you and your team for doing a great job with our frame and SIPS.  Your guys were a delight to have around – very polite and respectful.  They all worked hard on the build and some days worked a long day to prepare for the next.  Very impressive!  And they left the site so tidy ….  For us to have a familiar team completing both the frame and SIPS was a real plus for us, and we could see how much care they took to make sure it all fitted well together.

We are delighted with the resulting building and are now planning the next stage for it – roof, cladding etc.  We love the frame and think it gives the room real character.  I can’t wait to see it after it has been cleaned up after the sandblasting!

Beautiful Oak Framed house in the Cotswolds

Westwind Oak designed a two story oak framed extension for me last year , I, like the oak building was very green as to how it would work although I had done many building projects in the past . I need not have worried from the start of the project the advice and service was exceptional .
First of all we worked through the best design to suit my needs , as we are in an area of outstanding natural beauty on the Cotswold escarpment this needed to be both practical and aesthetically pleasing. I visited the factory on several occasions which was fascinating to see the progress and the wonderful craftsmanship that took place .
When the Oak frame and SIP panels were ready they were delivered , the team arrived on site and in 8 days very efficiently erected the whole building .
To sum up the project was delivered on time on budget with excellent customer advice and support .

Somerset Extension

We are absolutely delighted with our Westwind Timber Frame kitchen extension. When we had the idea of an extension on our house, we fancied an oak frame and someone recommended Westwind as they have a dining room extension built by them. We went to view it and were swept away with the quality and aesthetics of their new works.

We had seen other designers projects at shows and viewings, but nothing quite matched the Westwind model.

We met up with the Westwind team and had a great initial meeting with them at their workshops which included brainstorming ideas about the design and possibilities. This was very  informative, constructive, calm and creative. A design, matching our ideas was drawn up on CAD form along with a quotation, which was better than we thought.

The quote and design was discussed over the phone and we placed the order. The building of the frame, delivery and installation had to fit in with our builders time frame, who was building our garage underneath and interfacing the new extension to the old house. Westwind were seamless with this time scale, their delivery and very professional erection of the frame.

We have no hesitation in recommending Westwind; from the initial meeting with the design team, right through to the friendly team who delivered and built it.

It looks fantastic as a kitchen now and is a beautiful piece of modern day/traditional craftsmanship. We just don’t tire of admiring the beautiful timber. Mike & Sally Chilman

Green Oak Cottage

When we embarked on our ‘oak frame dream home’ venture we were complete novices, but with a fairly clear idea of what we wanted.

We chose Westwind because of Rupert’s willingness to give us time, guidance and confidence in relaxed and friendly discussions. In addition to the oak frame it was beneficial for us that Westwind also supplied and fitted the SIPs. Rupert also recommended an experienced architect, who was able to suggest a builder and this combination, together with the friendly and professional Westwind staff, enabled the project to run smoothly. When the time came for erection on site, the crew were friendly, amusing and knowledgeable so that the frame and SIPs went up as planned.
